Flexible electrochromic fiber with rapid color switching and high optical modulation

Though flexible electrochromic devices have shown huge potential application in the fields of safety warning, display and smart windows, limited attention was paid on preparing fiber because difficulty fabricating multilayer device structure one-dimensional form. In this study, a nylon based Ag nanowires (NWs)/PEDOT:PSS/WO3 nanoparticles (NPs) (PEDOT:PSS = poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrenesulfonic acid) is successfully fabricated, delivering rapid color switching (2.5 9 s for bleaching coloration) high optical modulation (65.5% at 633 nm), sustainable to repeated mechanical deformations. NWs, PEDOT:PSS WO3 NPs were dip-coated fiber, resulting an electrode with stable resistance 50–100 ?/10 cm, which can withstand deformation against 300 times bending cycles radius 0.5 sustain 30 tape-peeling. During galvanostatic tests, capacitance maintain 70% initial value even after 5,000 charge-discharge cycles. Even knotted shape, still shows excellent contrast. This study provides novel method construct pave way development optoelectronic devices, such as wearable displays.
